CD Projekt Red has released a brand new 37-minute footage of official gameplay walkthrough for Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. The new walkthrough shows off the first act of the game and features both the gameplay and turn-based card battle combat. The footage also offers commentary by Pawel Burza, CD Projekt Red’s Community Manager.
According to Burza, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is a brand new RPG which is set in the Witcher Universe. The story of the game is set before the events of the very first Witcher game. The game follows the story of Meve, the queen of Lyria. The new gameplay footage begins with the recent invasion of Nilfgaard in Lyria. Then, the footage moves to the scene where Meve is in effort to repel the Nilfgaard and break the siege of Dravograd.
The footage also shows off the battle and throughout the battle-style of Gwent. This results in the victory of Lyria (sorry for the Spoiler spilled) and some decisions made after the conversation. This conversation is about giving financial support to Dravograd because they have lost all of their grain stores during the siege.
As the Narrator quotes;
Some immediate, some far-reaching—eventually, a time will come when you have to deal with the consequences of the decisions you make.
From this point, Meve moves on into completing a side quest which results in a small battle that lasts only one round.
As the game’s core mechanics suggest, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is likely going to appeal the Card battle games fans, probably more than the RPG fans. As it is a fresh take on the RPG genre, offers a unique narrative, and interesting gameplay, it will, hopefully, be equally entertaining for both the RPG and Card Battle games fans.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is due out on October 23rd, 2018. The game can be pre-ordered exclusively via GOG. Check out the new 37 minutes of gameplay walkthrough of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales below.
