Marvel’s Spider-Man was released yesterday on PS4 in 4K, and so far it has come out as one of the most iconic games to ever hit the console. According to James Stevenson, the Community Director for Insomniac, working with Marvel on the game has made them better in so many different ways. Stevenson also added that without Marvel, they’d be working on the game a little bit different.
While in an interview with Fandom, Stevenson further stated that:
Sure we’d be open to another licensed game. I feel like the question hints to whether there are downsides to it. It’s different of course; you have other people involved who can tell you whether something is on-brand or off-brand, which is different for us than, say, working on a Ratchet & Clank.
But it’s not like we wanted to go too far away from what makes Spider-Man great. It had to be an authentic experience, so in some ways, it’s helpful having extra people around who know the character so well and are pushing you to make things better. Working with Marvel probably drove us to be better than we can be when we’re working on our own thing.
Marvel wasn’t putting up roadblocks or anything like that, it was more from the perspective of wanting to help us make a great Spider-Man game. Marvel basically said, ‘here are 50-plus years of comics, characters and stories. Look through all of it and pick what you want.
Based on what James Stevenson said, it seems that he’s right about Marvel collaborating with them on the game. To further prove what he said, some reviews of Spider-Man PS4 4k version have popped up on the internet. If you look at them, you’ll definitely agree to Stevenson. It is indeed one of the most iconic games on PS4 in 4K.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is brilliant in so many different ways. It’s great in so many ways that you’ll never ever stop playing it. Although, to some, the Hero might not be that up-vote worthy as the story lacks some of the most required aspects. But, at the same time, if you look at the combat and mechanics, you’ll fall in love with it.
